I pray for the night. When we can all lie down in peace, when monsters no longer live under the bed. When we finally extinguish the scorching light of human arrogance, When we return the night to the owl and the deer and the moon and the stars once again guide us to freedom. I pray for the day. When words are no longer needed to explain why to traumatized children. When the silence of peace is heard throughout the land. When we no longer need to sing a new song to God because we have become the song. ©2023marthahurwitz
