“Speak your own truth.”


If there is no TRUTH, which is true
according to post-modern thinking,
what happens when your truth and my truth
are at war with each other?

Is it TRUE or only true, 
that parents in Israel and parents in Gaza
weep the same tears over the graves of their children?

I have endless questions that have no answers.
I am filled with confusion, uncertainty, 
and a growing sense of isolation and dread.
That is my truth.

But even so, I am making challah, and tonight at sundown
I will light the candles, bless the wine and bread,
welcome the angels of peace into my heart and home.
That is also my truth.
May it someday be TRUTH.
