Ancient Walls

Ancient walls are silent storytellers, witness
to human history, they know the truth.

Hyenas cackle in the fields under the Full Moon,
weaving false narratives of conquest and plunder.

The walls know that temples built above them
are proof of arrogance, of the very conquest they protest.

Jackals wait in the shadows hunting their gullible prey,
the foot soldiers of destruction and despair.

The walls keep silent under the desert sun
but at the New Moon they tell their stories,

the call of the shofar whispers in the wind,
and honey flows again from the ancient stones.
