How God must weep
As children created in love
Destroy in hateful rage.

In bustling marketplaces,
Remote mountain hillsides,
On school playgrounds,
Even in sanctuaries 
Dedicated to holiness.

How long must God
Mourn the slaughter
Of sister and brother
Of parent and child?

How long must God
Sit in sackcloth and ashes,
Weeping
