Fading Lights of Hanukkah

When light fades, how do we face the darkness?

Creator of Light,
For eight nights we have kindled light
With increasing joy as the darkness yields.
Until the sun sets on the final day.

It is with sadness that we linger,
Watching as the last wick goes dark.
Yet this is the final blessing.

As long as You are with us,
We do not need to cling to light
Or fear the darkness.

For You are like the oil in the ruins,
Sanctified, and kindled with faith,
Your Light will never fade.
