The Nation of Human Tragedy

In the nation of human tragedy
the national anthem is a hymn
to ownership of righteousness.

This land is holy, yours is not,
my god is God. This is my land.
You do not belong here.

Our god speaks rightness,
appointed us to be
guardians of righteousness.

Which sea must we cross,
get to the Promised Land
first and Plant Our Flag?

We see angels descend and ascend,
break the steps so no sinner will
accidentally be allowed to climb

better to ride out the storm
in an ark, nailed shut and rotting

better to sacrifice our children
on the altar of rightness

Forgive us, for we know exactly what we are doing.
